K-Gr 3-While these two volumes contain accurate information, they border on being too simple. In the first book, each two-page spread addresses a habitat (rain forest, city, grassland) and briefly describes its plant and animal life. The Five Senses has less information and includes sentences such as "When you touch something, you feel what it is like." Little attention is devoted to explaining how our senses work; rather, the author suggests that readers smell a dirty dishcloth or play hide-and-seek with a peeled orange. Although limited, these attractive books might be useful as supplemental material in the classroom. Both are filled with lots of white space and big colorful photos-but be aware that they are very basic treatments.-Christine A. Moesch, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, NY
