Told entirely from Siegfried's point of view, Stanley's ( Peter the Great ; Good Queen Bess ) comical caper perfectly captures Siegfried's sense of righteous indignation--though the humor is occasionally overly sophisticated. Readers do not have to be cat lovers to be captivated by the frantic gyrations of this put-upon puss, who takes several years off his age in his vigorous pursuit. Sandford employs delightfully skewed perspectives in his boldly drawn illustrations as he shows the transformation of a sleepy kitty into a green-eyed monster. Ages 4-8.
