About the Author:
Dr. Steven P. Shelov, M.D., M.S., F.A.A.P. is Professor of Pediatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Chairman of Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center and Vice President of the Infants' and Childrens' Hospital of Brooklyn. He is the Editor-in-Chief of several of the parent publications for the AAP including Caring For Your Baby and Young Child, The First Year Of Life, and A Guide to Child Symptoms. Dr. Shelov pioneered and developed these series of books. In 2002, Dr. Shelov was presented with the Lifetime Achievement in Education Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics, its singular highest award for pediatric education. The American Academy of Pediatrics is an organization of 57,000 primary care pediatricians, pediatric medical subspecialists, and pediatric specialists dedicated to the health, safety, and well-being of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
