About the Author:
Born on Missouri on December 19 1955 and raised in St. Louis, where he still resides and creates today, the author Richard (Rick) Flynn attended Charles Summner High School and subsequently the Washington University School of Fine Art graduating with a BFA in Graphic Communication concentrating on Illustration & Design. After graduation he worked various graphic and fine art jobs including for the City of St. Louis, local publications, design and creation of airbrushed apparel, freelance art, and ultimately becoming a staff artist for AT&T Yellow Pages Directories for just short of 20 years. During his tenure there he created locally and nationwide, traveling coast to coast illustrating and designing to create distinctive artwork for nationwide directory distribution receiving awards for excellence within the company and national awards for union/industry cartoons. All the while, however, honing his cartooning skills and creating in his spare time the Rick Flynn Universe of characters, art and stories. Inspirations include Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and the entire Marvel Bullpen and DC comics legends such as Curt Swan, Neal Adams and Carmine Infantino not to mention the underground greats like Crumb, Corben and Spain. Icons such as Rembrandt, Michealangelo, Leonardo Da-Vinci, Van-Gogh, Picasso, Salvador Dali and other classic artists of the Renaissance, the Impressionist, and Modern schools have been influences. These and many others have been inspirations at one time or another to create and imagine. These comics, stories and the related video and music are the culmination of years of exploration into the world of comics, fantasy and art as it reflects and affects the world we inhabit. In addition to the rickflynnuniverse.com website, the "Rick Flynn Universe" comic book series and "Who Is Hundredman" series, the Rick Flynn Youtube Channel features superhero movies, music video and commentary by Rick Flynn. Rick has also contributed his superhero artwork to the Voices for Children Child Advocacy group and presented motivational presentations at the Juvenile Detention Center in St. Louis.
