RNIT is dedicated to the late revolutionary poet, Amiri Baraka, formerly Everett LeRoi Jones (October 7, 1934 - January 9, 2014).  According to Baraka, social frustrations among Blacks have always been transcribed in their literary works.  In 2014, the literary world lost a poetic giant.  He will forever be considered as one of the most prolific and influential Black writers of the twentieth century.  Baraka created a socially heightened platform for artistic expression - one that many are afraid to reach - due to societal, professional, and personal backlash.  His presence on earth displayed that our society needs more Black critical thinkers to confront an America that historically has exhibited a complacent nature in addressing social issues in the Black community.
