Inscribed, "For Anne Armstrong - Let this convey the author's esteem for a Texas girl who in her century represented the United States of America before royalties in the United Kingdom" and signed and dated by the author. Anne Armstrong, or "Texas Anne" as she was known in Britain, was a woman of many firsts. She was the first woman U.S. Ambassador to the U.K., first female Counselor to the President (under Nixon and Ford), and she was the first woman from either major party to keynote at a National Convention (Republican, 1972). In 1987, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Ronald Reagan. Very Good Minus in like dust jacket. Brown boards a bit bumped at corners and head of spine, plus with a few small discolored spots near the edges. Jacket has a short tear at rear flap fold.
