The collection includes works by such noted authors as Steinbeck and Poe as well as by familiar writers like Joan Aiken, Stephen King, Leon Garfield, and Price herself, with individual tales running the gamut from mildly unsettling to truly frightening. Leon Garfield's "A Grave Misunderstanding," Charles Dickens' "Captain Murderer," and Ellen Emerson White's "The Boy Next Door" are some of the most enjoyable. Filled with terrific Halloween read-alouds, the book will find a comfortable home in both classroom and library collections.
