About the Author:
Pierre David is a Professor of Business Administration at Baldwin-Wallace College, a liberal arts university located in Berea, Ohio. His teaching interests include marketing and operations management, particularly as these disciplines are applied to an international environment: his primary teaching focus are the courses in international logistics and international market research offered as part of the Baldwin-Wallace College International MBA program. In 1998, based upon student recommendations, he received the Bechberger Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. David has also had the opportunity to conduct international logistics training sessions in the United States, France, Turkey, China and Brazil. His research interests are in international logistics and international market research, but also include statistics: he and other faculty members at Kent State University are doing very-large-scale computer simulations to determine sampling distributions of specific statistics. He earned a PhD from Kent State University, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and an MBA from l?École de Hautes Études Commerciales du Nord in Lille, France,,all of which were in marketing and operations management. He has lived in four different countries (Tunisia, Switzerland, France, and the United States) and visited a dozen more. Dr. David is active in the Native Sons and Daughters' programs, the United Way, and his church. He is married to Beth and they have three children.

Richard Stewart is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, the Director of the Transportation and Logistics Research Center and the Co-Director of the Great Lakes Maritime Research Institute. He earned his Ph.D. at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute?s Lalley School of Management, his Master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and his Bachelor's degree at the US Merchant Marine Academy. Dr. Stewart has commanded ocean going ships and was manager of a $300 million fleet of tankers and bulk vessels trading world-wide. He was a Captain in the US Naval Reserve and holds a current Unlimited Ocean Master?s License and STCW-95 certification. Dr. Stewart has extensive teaching experience in undergraduate and graduate courses in the US and overseas. He is an examiner for the American Society of Transportation and Logistics and is certified in Transportation and Logistics. His publications include research reports, books and articles on transportation management, port operations, transportation education and marine environmental management. He is a consultant for law firms and transportation companies. Dr. Stewart is active in Boy and Girl Scouts, several professional societies and serves on public advisory committees and non-profit boards. Richard is married to Kathleen Collins and they have four children.
