Pariyaram M Chacko after doing M.A. and Ph.D. from the Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, has taught postgraduate students for over 25 years. He is currently Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, in North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He was formerly Professor and Head, Department of Sociology, Assam University, Silchar. He has published several research papers in journals and books. His books are Caste, Business and Entrepreneurship in South India; Matriliny in Meghalaya: Tradition and Change (ed.); and Hill Cities of Eastern Himalayas (co-edited).
