Grade 7-12-- Even though some of the material presented here may be useful to those teens who can ferret it out, this title will have limited appeal for them. Browsers will be put off by the drab cover, and those seeking self-help information will find that limited white space and lack of illustrations combine to create a somber mood. Those working on reports will be frustrated by the unnecessary repetition and the lack of continuity and consistency. Both Hislop's writing style and her projected image of the age of her readers vary from chapter to chapter. At times the text is condescending; a point is made clearly, explained with an example, repeated, and then reviewed. A bibliography of predominantly adult titles, some clinical, is appended.
