John W. Reps is Professor of City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. He is the author of numerous works including The Forgotten Frontier: Urban Planning in the American West before 1890 (University of Missouri Press, 1982); Cities of the American West: A History of Frontier Urban Planning (Princeton University Press, 1979). for which he received the Albert J. Beveridge Prize of the American Historical Association; and Town Planning in Frontier America (Princeton University Press, 1965; paper edition, University of Missouri Press, 1979).
