A subtle participatory play, ideal for grades K-3, adapted from Pacific Northwest folklore by the co-author of the celebrated and award- winning NIGHTINGALE and FOOL OF THE WORLD. Designed for open space and simple sets. A flexible cast of five male, two female roles, several of which are gender neutral.

When Clan Chief's son is spirited away by the Moon, in this mystical adventure incorporating masks and creative movement, it is lowly Orphan Boy who must save him. With much help from Sky Grandmother, Little Sky Sister and the audience - - the two boys escape from Sky Country in a triumph of friendship and Ingenuity.

About the Author:
Rita Grauer comes by her theatrical know-how quite naturally. Born into an east-coast show business family, she spent her childhood singing professionally with her sisters and parents in Miami-Beach and Catskill-Mountain resorts during the last days of the vaudeville Borscht Belt. Fresh out of college in 1971 with a B.A. from Florida State University s Theatre Arts, she was hired as an actress, performing in-repertory and touring throughout the southeastern United States with the Asolo State Theatre.

Rita s adult career spans more than three decades acting, directing, teaching, producing or writing for numerous theatres across the country. Her delightfully imaginative plays for young audiences are an outgrowth of her tenure as Artistic Director for Yellow Brick Road Shows a touring educational theatre she founded with friend and colleague John Urquhart in Southern California. Now widely produced from coast to coast, her award-winning scripts are available exclusively through Anchorage Press. They include Nightingale, Fool of the World, Huckleberry Finn, Gold Fever and The Boy Who Tricked the Moon (originally commissioned by Louisville s Stage One Theatre).
