About the Author

Dr. Leonard Lee Rue III has spent much of his life studying, photographing, and living with wildlife in its natural habitats. He is the author of 28 books on wildlife, including Voyageur Press’s "Leonard Lee Rue III’s The Way of the Whitetail" and "Beavers", and he is also one of the most published wildlife photographers in the country. He writes monthly columns for "Deer & Deer Hunting" and "Outdoor Photographer" magazines. He received two honors from the Outdoor Writers’ Association of America: the "Excellence in Craft" and the "Jade of Chiefs" awards. In 1990, he received an Honorary Doctorate of Science from Colorado State University for "the dissemination of knowledge on wildlife," and in 1997, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the North American Nature Photographers’ Association (NANPA).
