This is a catalogue of the English pottery in Leeds Art Galleries (The City Art Gallery, Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall). Almost 1,300 pieces are described in detail and over a third of these are reproduced in 500 illustrations, sixteen of which are in color. It is the first complete catalogue of English pottery in public ownership to be published since the 1930s. The book is divided into three parts. The first part is concerned with the slipwares, 'delftwares', salt-glazed stonewares and early industrial lead-glazed wares. The main part describes the creamware. The final part is concerned with the fine stonewares. Significant moulded details and Leeds marks are illustrated and cross-referenced in the text.
