If it offends you that I use the name in which alone I know myself in sound, and if this name strikes you as being too exotic, then give me any name you will. But: DO READ just the same what I have written, because it does concern you too.
True competence in judging matters of the spirit presupposes that one understand the structure of this inner realm, the realm whose very substance is eternal light. And all my texts have as their foremost aim: to open the reader's eyes to this mysterious structure, and to show him its profoundest depths.
Every word I write is based upon objective and direct experience, communicated in artistic form. The greater part of this experience I owe to my existence in dimensions of reality that are not open to any other of my European fellowmen. But this is merely said to indicate my sources, so that the reader understand what lies behind the impulse prompting me to make my knowledge public.
A resume of my experience? It would be this: All knowledge, faith, and forming of hypotheses remains completely worthless if it fails directly to affect each instant of one's daily life. Whatever does not lead to action - to deeds and practical results - is nothing more than idle play with notions and with fleeting moods. Confused and shadowy emotions one ought to leave aside, and should within oneself no longer brook whatever will not actively become a factor in one's present life.
It is our actions that bear witness to our real being, and nothing but our conduct - toward ourselves and toward the outside world - will truly tell us who we are. All else is merely self-deception.
It is quite certain that man in all eternity will not create a "heaven" on this earth; however, it is just as certain that nearly all the evils that still oppress the human race could indeed be lifted from the world.
But this demands that growing numbers of perceptive minds will finally awaken to the fact that man does not advance society - and thus himself - by means of airy theories, which human brains are ever eager to conceive, but only through the active worth, the practical effectiveness of each and every human being. The kind of world that man may bring forth in his mind is but too ready to reflect each whim of its creator.
But seldom only, and in very few, is this envisioned inner world a true reflection of the world without, the world of facts that we must face outside, where its objective will has small regard for our wishful thinking.
Learning here and now to see through all mere ideologies; here and now to set one's inner world its outer task. here and now to love one's neighbor as oneself - this alone leads to salvation.
