In any instance where reference is not made to federal law, general legal principles are discussed. However, the law in each jurisdiction may vary on these points, and the reader should always refer to the state-specific law whenever the point in question is not federally regulated.

Each topic discussed in the text is deserving of a book of its own, and Advanced Employment Law is not intended to replace an in-depth analytical study of each of these fields. This textbook, however, will afford the reader a comprehensive overview of the most important facets of employment law.

Understanding employment law is a practical necessity for the paralegal, both professionally and personally.
