Finally, after over forty years of silence, Walter Starcke reveals the private side of Joel Goldsmith and the sometimes tumultuous and often inspiring experiences included in their eighteen year relationship.
Joel Goldsmith and I reads like a novel as it follows successful Broadway Producer, Naval Officer, and Entrepreneur Walter Starcke, through his years with New Thought pioorner, Joel Goldsmith. During their 18 years together, Starcke was transformed into a Practical Mystic.

\"With simple and deeply personal eloquence, Walter Starcke explores for us a way out of and above the finally fatal world of materialism.\"
- Tennesee Williams

Joel and I is an autobiographical peek into his life-altering, father-son type relationship with Joel Goldsmith, a renowned spiritual practitioner and Christian mystic.

Starcke was once known primarily for his success on Broadway, where he became one of the youngest ever to receive the New York Drama Critics Award for his production of I Am a Camera, which later became Cabaret. His social circle included literary giants such as Tennesee Williams and Gore Vidal, and the director and playwright John van Druten, who introduced Starcke to Goldsmith, instigating the beginning of his spiritual quest and career.

Goldsmith s mystical message is described by some as among the most important contributions of the 20th Century, yet few know anything of the man and the price he paid to bring forth his great teaching. Walter Starcke, who was at Joels side for 18 years, traveled with him, and introduced him from the platform on his first talks in New York and London, paints an intimate picture of the ups and downs of his personal relationship with Goldsmith.

Born into a Jewish family, Goldsmith eventually turned to Christian Science, where he became a successful and respected practitioner, only to lose favor with the denomination when his own spiritual convictions began to filter into his teachings. He went on to found The Infinite Way method, centered on the concept that the truth is found only by becoming one with the subjective through meditation and contemplative practices.

Joel told Starcke that his message had further to go. Starcke shares with us an over-view of his own message, especially as it relates to his roots. Starckes message that its time to close the gap between our divinity and our humanity, contuinues the Turths revealed in Joels work. It is important to reveal the personal side of Goldsmith in order for his message to be fully appreciated.

Readers will enjoy the full scope of this book. It is full of personal photos, letters, biographical information, and spiritual insights.

About the Author:
Walter Starcke s extraordinary life reads like fiction. In his quest for life s ultimate answers and with his uncanny ability to perpetually reinvent himself, he has donned the role of modern mystic, Broadway producer, successful business entrepreneur, powerful keynote speaker and author of six best-selling books, It s All God, The Third Appearance, The Double Thread, The Ultimate Revolution, The Gospel of Relativity, and Homesick for Heaven.
As playwright Tennessee Williams wrote of Starcke s unique approach, With simple and deeply personal eloquence, Walter Starcke explores for us a way out of and above the finally fatal world of materialism.
In his career on Broadway, Starcke co-produced I Am a Camera, which became the musical Cabaret, and resulted in his being one of the youngest producers to have received the New York Drama Critic s Best Play Award. Starcke also collaborated with the playwright director, John Van Druten on his play Bell Book and Candle, which Van Druten dedicated to him, and served as his Assistant Director on the original production of Roger and Hammerstein s The King and I. Starcke s friends in his theater days ranged from such literary giants as Noel Coward, Cole Porter, and his own peer group of friends Gore Vidal, Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, Marlon Brando, and Paul Newman, who Starcke discovered and introduced to Paul s first agent.
His business successes include the establishment of the OLD ISLAND RESTORATION FOUNDATION in Key West Florida, which was greatly responsible for Key West s current popularity. There, Starcke began KEY WEST HANDPRINT FABRICS, which became a national success with outlets across the country and gave birth to the Lily Pulitzer designs. For this, Starcke received the Key West Industrialist of the Year Award in 1962. In 1974, he returned to his native Texas and purchased a 367-acre ranch in the Texas Hill Country, which Starcke transformed into an internationally successful corporate retreat center for Fortune 500 companies.
For many years Starcke and his wife, Eron, lived on the Guadalupe River Ranch where they were co-managers and loved the hands on activite. Starcke also started another silk screen business on the ranch, which Eron not only ran, but became a successful designer. Guadaluep Hand Prints became a nationally know custom business with Walter s marketing abilities.
Starcke s life was about Trusting the Process and this he successeed in in all areas of his life. The real focus of his life was always his spiritual growth. Starcke s all consuming fire to find universal truths lead him to circle the world a half dozen times to study the major world religions. This trek took him from Lama Govinda s ashram at the border of Tibet to the Vedanta monastery in Southern California, with Swami Prabhavananda, in the days that Aldus Huxley and Christopher Sherwood were there. As Starcke says, they were setting the patterns in the late forties for the explosion of interest in the mystical and metaphysical movement that is taking place today.
His mentor and most influential teacher was the Christian mystic and author of THE INFINITE WAY, Joel S. Goldsmith - an association that began in 1946 and lasted until Goldsmith s death eighteen years later. As Joel knew himself, they was much more to reveal and share, which Starcke continued to do through his life.
At the INTERNATIONAL NEW THOUGHT ALLIANCE conference in 2001, Starcke was awarded its Mystical Century Award. He holds a Doctor of Divinity degree from Emerson Theological Institute, and was on the Board of Directors for Unity School at Unity Village Missouri.
Before his death, he and Eron compeleted his last book, The Star Keys.
Starcke indeed closed the gap between our Divine and our Humanity by giving us the Star Keys to make this Process a real possibility
Review:
A fascinating book that tells the story of how three amazing men were drawn together in a spiritual quest that has greatly influenced the lives of all of us who are involved in the evolution of consciousness. It reads like a novel!
But you will also be rewarded with Starcke\'s spiritual insights that are uniquely his own. --Rev. Catherine Ponder, author, Dynamic Laws of Prosperity

I am thrilled that you have written this book. It clarifies Goldsmith s teachings for the 21st Century, and enhances the legacy of this great teacher and spiritual practitioner. You expose the authentic communion that exists between teacher and student.
Plus you help bring his vital message into our present consciousness. --Michael Benard Beckwith, Founder and Spiritual Director Agape International Spiritual Center, Los Angeles, CA Inspirations of the Heart and Forty Day Mind Fast Soul Fast

A rare, compelling, and penetrating view into one of the great metaphysicians of our time, through the eyes of another master teacher, Walter Starcke. The portrait of Goldsmith the genius as well as person, inspires me to walk in absolute faith. This book will stand on many shelves as a classic teaching. --Alan Cohen, author I Had It All the Time
