About the Author:

Dixie Westergard has spent most of her life in Carson, City, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno as a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Her husband Roland and their four children are also UNR graduates. After raising children, substitute teaching and volunteering in the community, Dixie began her career as an author. She has written such historical works as Dat-so-la-lee Washo Indian Basketmaker and The Lake Tahoe Story. In 2002 she was inducted into the Nevada Women’s History Project Roll of Honor. Dixie’s strong ties to Nevada and her lifetime commitment to helping others is much like the subject of her book, Dr. May Fulstone.
