The promise I made thee, Abdul-Baha wrote to Agnes Parsons, I will certainly carry out. I will come to thy city and to vist thee I will come to thy house. Rest thou assured. And so, upon arrival in Washington, D.C. on April 12, 1912, Abdul-Baha lived in the Parsons home for about three weeks. He was later the honored guest of the Parsons family in their summer house in Dublin, New Hampshire, for about a month.

Published for the first time, this is certainly the most detailed and accurate portrayal of Abdul-Baha's daily life during his journey to America. The diary is fully annotated and generously supplemented (in footnotes) with parallel accounts from Mahmud's Diary.
