The three explain how they recruit, train, manage, and evaluate student volunteers, and they emphasize building group camaraderie. They also include lesson plans for 22 training sessions (covering hardware cleaning, trouble-shooting, printer maintenance, and the use of CD-ROMs, VCRs, laser discs, scanners, and digital cameras) and reproducible brochures, forms, and log sheets for those who may want to adapt the program to their own site needs. Although not all schools will be comfortable providing kids with this much access to their technology systems, the suggested tasks are well within the age group's ability and may possibly save harried librarians and technology coordinators many hours of work.
