Betty taught at Hofstra University, developed a nutrition workshop at Stanford University Continuing Education Program for Doctors and Nurses, and served as nutrition consultant on the Committee of the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training, Washington, DC. A columnist for eight health news publications over the years, Betty has had more than 500 health reports published. Articles written by or about Betty have appeared in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Progress, Prevention Magazine, Baltimore Sun, and many other local and national publications But never mind all the credentials. Betty says her children describe her most aptly when they say, Mom? Shes just the oldest health nut in the country to which Betty responds: If you have to be the oldest anything, health nut is not so bad. Paul Kamen is a naval architect with degrees from Webb Institute of Naval Architecture and the University of California at Berkeley. In addition to consulting projects, he writes for a local sailing magazine and contributes research support and technical illustrations for his moms books and articles. Pauls interest in food-based nutritional supplements stems from a very early exposure to brewers yeast tablets and blackstrap molasses, part of every breakfast in the Kamen household since the early 50s. Paul, Casilda, and Rocky now live 900 feet above sea level in Berkeley, California, where their hillside garden supports the local deer population with a variety of ornamental plants and organic vegetables.
