Book Description:
First published in 1892, this biography and collection of letters was prepared by Samuel Palmer's surviving son. The letters, which date from 1829 to 1881, include correspondence with 'the Ancients' John Linnell, George Richmond and Edward Calvert. The book includes a range of illustrations and a catalogue of exhibited works.
About the Author:
Martin Butlin was for many years Keeper of the Historic British Collection at the Tate Gallery. William Vaughan is Professor of History of Art at Birkbeck College. He is the author of "Romanticism and Art, British Painting", and "Gainsborough".
