The images in this book were taken in two sittings, the first in New Mexico, the second at Shepard's home in Virginia. Shepard's then girlfriend/partner Jessica Lange is featured with Shepard in a number of the photos. Weber's essay for the volume narrates his experiences in Tangier, when he gave Paul Bowles a copy of Shepard's "Hotel Chronicles."
