About the Author:

Born in 1905 in Japan, Rev Kiyoko Higuchi passionately believed that her mission in life was to bring spiritual healing through Johrei teachings and practices and communicate Meishu-sama's message to the people of America. A graduate of Tokyo Women's Christian College, Reverend Higuchi sought help from Meishu-sama's organization for spiritual healing and found the effects transformative for both herself and her family. After she learned to give Johrei and received instruction from Meishu-sama, she prayed to become a pure and effective channel of God's Light for humanity and then to help purify the world and raise its vibration. Meishu-sama said to her when she was nervous about preparing for her new responsibilities in the US "God decided long ago, you know, that you should go to the United States....God has everything arranged so there is very little for you to worry about." Reverend Higuchi brought the Light of Johrei to America when she and Reverend Ajiki arrived in Oahu in 1953. By 1955 they had established a church in Hawaii and another in Los Angeles. A minister describing Reverend Higuchi's lectures said Reverend Higuchi's presence was so compelling and peaceful, I was overwhelmed... at the same time I felt as if I had known her forever and that she was reading and speaking directly to me. Now these talks are readily available. The Light of Johrei includes topics such as: Being in harmony with God's Will, The Power of Prayer, The Secret of True Happiness, Patience, Purification and Toxins, Attitude, Appreciation, and Johrei movement history. From the beginning of her Johrei work in America, Rev Higuchi put a lot of energy into translating Meishu-sama's teachings into English while doing ministerial and expansion work at the same time. She felt that it wasn't enough to speak and write English. She felt one must be able to convey feeling and understanding. Reverend Kiyoko Higuchi has expanded the awareness of countless people through her books, translations, teachings and lectures. Her tireless efforts have left us a priceless legacy.
