Born in 1918, Alvy Ford grew up farming, and received his early education in a one-room schoolhouse. After working as a truckdriver in the early forties, he entered the U. S. Army in 1944 at the age of twenty-six. Barely a year later, Alvy Ford's life was changed drastically. While serving in World War II on the island of Okinawa in the summer of 1945 the accidental explosion of a hand grenade immediately blinded Mr. Ford in both eyes.
Soon, God began to work in the life of Alvy Ford in a remarkable way. While attending Bible school as a blind student, Mr. Ford began preparing for a text on the book of Daniel. In order to remember the main points, he summed up each chapter of the book in four simple lines of rhyming verse. This proved to be of such help to him and others that he was encouraged to do the same for every chapter in the entire Bible. Beginning on March 1, 1954, he finished this tremendous task in just a little over four months!
Now, after many years, The Bible in Verse is again available for you and your family. The classic work has universal appeal to both adults and children. A wonderful tool for family Bible reading, Sunday School teachers, pastors, Christian and home schools, this prized work is sure to be a blessing as you gain a summary understanding of entire books of the Bible in minutes.
