About the Author:
Mary Diane Hausman, a native Texan of Cherokee ancestry, has had her work widely published in literary journals and anthologies. Her poetry, including the title poem, appears in Leslea Newman's anthology of lesbian love poems, My Lover Is A Woman, published by Ballantine. Hausman will appear with Rita Dove and Maya Angelou in the upcoming anthology, Unsilenced, edited by Mollie Cox Bryan, published by Commune-a-key Publishing. She is 1994 PennWriter's In Other Words Contest winner for her essay, The Feeding. She is a frequent reader at National Writers Union sponsored events, and has been featured on Bank Street Radio in New York City. Besides writing, she also paints, teaches writing workshops, and works as an electronic product consultant in the insurance industry.
