"Songs From The Mira" contains the words & music of 32 of the best-known compositions of acclaimed Canadian songwriter Allister MacGillivray (of Cape Breton Island, NS). Included are the piano scores, guitar chords, discographies, lots of photos, and the stories behind much of the music. The songs (recorded by scores of performers worldwide) celebrate Maritime life, with images of coal-mining, fishing, and Celtic immigration to Eastern Canada. Included are "Song For The Mira", "Here's To Song", "Away From The Roll Of The Sea", "Coal Town Road", "Kitty Bawn O'Brien", "Tie Me Down", "Song For Peace", and all the rest.

About the Author:
Allister MacGillivray was born and raised in a coal-mining/fishing town on Cape Breton Island (NS, Canada). A Celtic guitarist and composer, for years he toured as an accompanist with renowned folk artists such as Tommy Makem & Liam Clancy of Ireland. An author and folklorist, he has written six books on the music of Nova Scotia. His songs have been recorded worldwide by scores of well-known artists, including Anne Murray, John McDermott, Foster & Allen, Phil Coulter, Frank Patterson, Mary O'Hara, and The Los Angeles Children's Chorus. "Song For The Mira" alone has been covered over 110 times and, along with "Here's To Song", has also become a standard in the choral-music repertoire. His music has travelled aboard the Space Shuttle, and MacGillivray has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate, and has also been proclaimed "Bard For Clan MacGillivray Canada".
