Skarbek, a professional woman in her early 30s who now works out of her home while raising her children, offers advice to well-educated women on planning their professional and personal lives. Basing her work on a study of 100 Villanova University alumni women between the ages of 28 and 35, the author offers a good picture of today's young female professional, although minorities were underrepresented in the study. The author explains why women need to determine their highest expectations from life and then set goals to achieve them. Skarbek notes many vital issues, including having children or not--and if so, how many and when--as well as working with children, career expectations, happiness, love, good deeds toward others, bettering oneself, and taking care of family members. Although not everyone will agree with all of Skarbek's theories and opinions, planning is an important component for any young professional, and this roadmap offers helpful insight for women ages 20 to 35 who are making decisions for their future.
