About the Author:
Roland S. Martin is a nationally award-winning journalist and editor of BlackAmericaWeb.com, the black news and information site founded by nationally syndicated radio show host Tom Joyner.

He is also the news editor for Savoy Magazine, a New York-based national lifestyles magazine targeting African Americans. Mr. Martin is also a correspondent for the American Urban Radio Network.

He has also written for several national media outlets, including Honey Magazine, Impact247.com, Savoymag.com, Inside.com, NiaOnline.com and Netnoir.com. Mr. Martin also produced an election special for Major Broadcasting Cable Network in Atlanta, Georgia. He also is frequently called upon as a content and marketing consultant for a variety of media outlets.

Mr. Martin has interviewed a number of luminaries, including President George Bush; Vice President Al Gore; Texas Governors Ann Richards and George W. Bush; a host of members of Congress; the Rev. Jesse Jackson; Barbara Jordan; Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; former U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young; and athletes and entertainers such as Michael Jordan, Dr. J, Tiger Woods, Erykah Badu, Kirk Franklin, and Vivica A. Fox.

Martin is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and is one of 32 national Unity Journalists of Color mentors.

The 1991 graduate of Texas A&M University is married to the Rev. Jacquie Hood-Martin and resides in the Dallas suburb of Cedar Hill.
