His story is told in first person and you seem to re-live his experiences by his most descriptive writing along with the photos, maps and drawings. It is one of those "can’t put it down" books. I proudly wore a patch signifying the 32nd Infantry Division. Camp Cable, in Eastern Australia, became the home of the 32nd Infantry Division in 1942. The soldiers were known as the "Red Arrow Men". In 1918, after World War I, the Red Circle shoulder patch no longer typified the character of the 32nd Division. This division, known for their success in accomplishing battlefield missions in World War I, did not run in circles, but shot through all obstacles, like an arrow. The troops of this division on many occasions formed a flying wedge which was launched against the Germans to break through their lines, and this led to the selection of the BAR-RED-ARROW shoulder patch which was proudly worn by all the 32nd Division troops. I lost many close friends and I dedicate this book to all the brave and gallant men of the Third Platoon that I was priviledged to serve with during this terrible war.
