About the Author:
John D. Lentz, D. Min., is both a licensed therapist and an ordained minister. his minstry includes directing the Ericksonian Institute of Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he practices marriage and family therapy, and teaching hypnosis for use in clinical settings. A socond part of his ministry is writing and producing outreach materials, including books, tapes and DCs, to assist people in using their faith to overcome life difficulties. Dr. Lentz retired from the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women after serving as chief chaplain for 22 years. For 18 of those yeras, he also served as adjunct professor at the Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, where he taught clinical aspects of counseling, including understanding the dynamics of abusive family systems. He is a memeber in good standing with the Mid-Kentucky Presbytery, and has supervisory status in the following organizations: The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT); the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH); and the American Association for Pastoral Counselors (AAPC). He is also a member of the International Society for Clinical Hypnosis and the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. Dr. Lentz has presented at a number of national and international meetings on subjects that include: The Bible and Hypnosis; Spirituality; and Safety From Seduction. Clinical topics have included: Impossible Patients; Systemic Aspects of Abuse; Self-Care of the Therapist; Women Who Murder; and Managing Manipulation. He is also the author of three other books, How the Word Heals, published by Writers' Club Press, 2002; Effective Handling of Manipulative Persons, published by C. Charles Thomas, Springfield, Illinois, 1986; and his most recent book, Spiritual Solutions to Anxiety and Panic Disorder published in 2004 by Healing Words Press.
