Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. This is an impressive book, both physically in terms of dimensions and heft, but also in the dizzying amount of detail and enormous amount of cooperative effort required to complete it. Measures about 8-3/4" wide x 11-1/4" high x 1-5/8" thick, in 790 + x pages. The book weighs in at about 5 pounds, 11.5 ounces. The amount of funding required was apparently great, as evidenced by the two columns per page over roughly three pages--single spaced--of the names of donors to the project. The history here, mentioned in the title as a "Bicentennial" project apparently refers to colonies of Germans in Russia that began about 1804. While the book was copyrighted by the GCRA, it was physically produced by State Publishing and Printing, of Pierre, South Dakota. Related to this book, and briefly mentioned there is a CD-ROM and a film documentary. Neither is included with this book. Further useful information can be found online at "WorldCat," including details about DVD videos from GCRA and a 2009 production by Prairie Public Television.
