People aren't born great, they become great through their reaction to circumstances. Such is the case with the characters in "A New M/Age Dawns". A group of human teens with no ambition but a comfortable life in an uncomfortable world; a half troll who wants only to lose himself in the wilderness; and a goblin with enough ambition for all of them, but perhaps not enough ability. All of these characters are propelled by events to rise out of mediocrity and join the ranks of the powerful and influential. It is two years after a major calamity that saw the Earth shift on its axis, an event only vaguely hinted at by the Mayan calendar. Ninety-five percent of humanity is gone, victims of the natural consequences of the shift or of disease or the human brutality that occurred afterwards. Without the wealth of knowledge and skills to support it, much of our technology is gone or sits idle. Into this world emerge beings of the past, only remembered through myth or fairy tale: elves, trolls, dragons and more. They remember us all too well though, for humanity has much to answer for. Einar and Kyra Jameson and their friends are just becoming settled in their new way of life when their families are torn from them by a group of gang-punks, led by a creature they have never seen the likes of - Knarg, the goblin. In the course of trying to rescue their family members and get revenge on Knarg, the teens are brought into a world they know nothing of; a world humans mostly forgot about over thousands of years; a world of dragons, swords and magic. "A New M/Age Dawns" is the first in a trilogy that follows the battle between good and evil in a post apocalyptic world where the line between the two is not always defined. A world where magic and technology co-exist on shaky terms. It moves from North America in Book I, to Europe in Book II and finally to a newly unfrozen Antarctica in Book III where the final battle occurs in a war that has been going on for millions of years.
