About the Author:

R. Glenn Ray has been a story-teller, facilitator, trainer, and coach since 1985. He helps leaders create environments where employees communicate clearly and choose to commit to organizational goals. He worked nine years as an underground coal miner, two years in construction work, and four years in the chemical industry as the training manager at BorgWarner Chemicals and GE Plastics. Glenn served as the director of the Institute of Education and Training for Business at Marietta College for ten years and has been the president of RayCom Learning for the almost seven years. He has authored or co-authored seven books including The Facilitative Leader: Behaviors that Enable Success and You Cannot Push a Pig into a Truck. Glenn is also a newspaper columnist contributing over 340 columns on leadership since 2000. He earned a Ph.D. in interpersonal communication from Ohio University in 1988.

Rays writing style as insightful and down-to-earth. He makes learning so very easy, like a leadership class in my own living room. I am fascinated by how Ray can take simple, ordinary, everyday happenings and turn them into lessons-to-be-learned. I can see the event Ray is describing as if I were there. The author has a knack for describing the situation in words that are very real. I find myself reading faster and faster so that I can see how it is going to turn out and what the lesson will be at the end. After finishing a story, I go back and make sure I have not missed anything. I always review the leadership tip at the end and try to apply it to something in my life.
