This book contains two short stories. The first story teaches children how to deal with bullies. The second story teaches children about stranger danger, which is an essential skill to stay safe. Each story is presented with delightful illustrations featuring a child who navigates a world that is sometimes confusing or intimidating. As he learns new social and coping skills, he gains a better understanding of how to react to or behave in specific situations. A perfect addition to the book is the section of comprehension questions at the end of each story. This ingenious idea reinforces learning and helps the reader thoroughly understand what's expected. This book also has a track record of success in helping children with autism and those with social delays.

Review:
How do you explain to children with special needs if someone is safe to be with? They might understand that going with stranger in a store is inappropriate. But what about the mailman or the landscaper? These are people they're familiar with and see often. In order to be safe, children must learn who they can trust. This book explains it clearly and simply. It identifies those in our inner circle versus strangers. Students will understand the boundaries between those close to us and those we don't really know. This book should be in every library for special needs children. --Emma Rayne, SLP

This book touches on an extremely important topic. Special needs children are often subject to bullying at school and in the community. Not being competent to express themselves or feeling that bullying is their fault, they suffer the taunting of their peers and feel ashamed. This book states very clearly that being bullied is NOT their fault. It tells a student exactly what to do in a variety of situations and who they can trust to resolve this issue. I simply believe that every child with special needs will benefit greatly with this book. --Tass Redding, BCBA
