Synopsis

This cookbook guides readers from the field to the table, offering helpful tips on how to best preserve and prepare waterfowl, wild turkey and upland birds. Game birds offer fun shooting and are a pleasure to eat, but optimizing flavor begins with proper field care, ageing and the right recipe. From veteran to novice everyone can find success in this cookbook. The time-tested, creative recipes found within these pages feature minimal ingredients with easy-to-follow instructions. The dual contributions of Scott & Tiffany Haugen will inspire and motivate hunters and cooks to get the most out of their game birds.

About the Author

Since 1968, Scott Haugen has been pursuing salmon and steelhead throughout the Pacific Northwest. Today his travels take him to multiple rivers, from Alaska to California, in search of these exciting fish. As a full-time outdoor writer and TV personality, Haugen spends more than 200 days afield each year. The knowledge he has gained through personal experience is what he loves to share, with the hope that more people will be motivated to participate in the outdoor endeavors he so loves. Scott Haugen, his wife, Tiffany, and their two sons, live near Oregon's McKenzie River, one of the authors favorite streams.

Tiffany Haugen grew up with a passion for cooking. As an adult she has traveled to nearly 30 countries, and lived in such exotic places as the Alaskan Arctic, Sumatra, Indonesia and Spain, where she cooked extensively with local foods. The background she's gained through practical experience continues to stimulate her worldly approach to simple food preparation.

A major in health education, combined with a Masters degree and several years of public school teaching, has helped shape Tiffany into the inspirational cookbook author she is today. With a focus on healthy, creative meals that are easy to prepare, she is fast becoming a recognized and much-appreciated author.

Tiffany Haugen lives with her husband, Scott, and two sons in Oregon.
