ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Captain Edward Zellem is the 10-time award-winning author of 3 bilingual books of Afghan Proverbs, now published in 16 languages. He is a U.S. Navy officer and trained Dari speaker who spent a year and a half embedded on native Afghan teams in Afghanistan. This included a year on President Hamid Karzai's staff inside the Afghan Presidential Palace. While in Afghanistan, Captain Zellem became fascinated with the way Afghans use Proverbs in their daily conversations. He began collecting and translating them, and used them every day with Afghans in his professional and personal life. After students at a local Kabul high school offered to create illustrations, he decided to publish his collection as a personal project to share with the world.
ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR:
Tatjana Šibul je završila Učiteljski fakultet u Somboru, Univerzitet u Novom Sadu. Nakon boravka u Velikoj Britaniji i polaganja ispita na koledžu u Sutton-u, vraća se u Srbiju i narednih godina radi u osnovnoj i privatnoj školi kao nastavnik engleskog jezika. 1998. odlazi u Grčku gde nakon položenog ispita iz grčkog stiče licencu profesora engleskog jezika za rad u privatnim školama. Radi kao profesor u privatnoj školi, a paralelno kao simultani prevodilac sa engleskog na grčki i vice versa. Poslednjih deset godina prevodi sa engleskog i grčkog na srpski.
Tatjana Sibul completed her degree in Teacher Training and Education at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia. Afterward, she studied English at Sutton College in England. When she returned to Serbia, she worked as an English teacher in public and private schools. Tatjana moved to Greece in 1998. After obtaining her license to teach English in the private sector, she has worked as an English teacher and as a simultaneous translator from English to Greek and Greek to English. Since 2005, she also has focused on translating from English and Greek to Serbian.
