About the Author:

My mother tells me I was born a very long time ago, but I m not so sure my mother can t be trusted. These things I do know: I was raised in Texas on barbeque, Mexican food and beer. I am the author of WANNA GET LUCKY? (A NY Times Notable Crime Novel and double RITATM Finalist), its five sequels, LUCKY BREAK, the latest and just out, and four between-the-books novellas. Currently I m stretching my writer muscles working on a women s fiction/contemporary romance series set in Napa the first novel, CRUSHED, is out March 8th a dark thriller, a romantic suspense series featuring a female helicopter pilot, as well as the next Lucky adventure all very different projects. So, if you see me with a glass of Champagne in hand, you ll understand. Five Stars! I've been a fan for several years of Deborah Coonts' Lucky series. I was a bit worried, I have to admit, when I started Crushed, that it somehow wouldn't hold up. That happens sometimes when an author starts a new series. I need not have worried. Crushed is as good as, or even better, than the best of the Lucky's. The multiple characters are well-described and well-developed, and you get a good insight into their inner lives. The novel moves along at a page-turning pace, plus it's often tense. I also got a good sense from the book of how great (or not-so-great) wine is made, which was a added bonus for me because I always enjoy learning something new from a novel. Although I've been to Napa a number of times and enjoyed the wine, I've never really paid close attention to the process of wine making. So it was fun to be able to see what goes on behind the scenes. I also see that the series is going to be a bit unusual in a pleasing way, since Ms. Coonts apparently plans for the follow-on novels to focus on additional characters, including a baker. So I guess I'll learn, too, how great bread is made. --Amazon

Five Stars! I hate to fly. I do it it is a necessary evil for both personal and professional activities I just don t like it. I started reading Crushed on my most recent trip. Never have I been less grateful for the plane to land. I wanted it to be a much longer flight just so I could keep reading. The story of Napa and wine drew me in like no other in recent memory. I was totally in love. The story was layered and nuanced. The detail drew me in without being overbearing. I love Deborah Coonts s Lucky books, but man, this one totally stole my heart. --Amazon

Five Stars! I LOVE this author, so I would read anything she writes. Her "Lucky" series set in Las Vegas is one of my favorites (Teddy!) so I was excited to read this start to a new series. I really LOVED it! I SO appreciate that Ms. Coonts takes the time to set the stage and develops her characters. This one is set in Napa, California...wine country. I could feel and smell the grapes and the rich soil in the vineyards. I look forward to more of this story. She allows room for much more character development with the extended families and friends of the main characters. I LOVE that the book is long enough to get a real feel for whats going on and I can imagine future stories. Too often it seems authors rush to tell the story and it feels more like I'm reading an article in a magazine. Not so with Deborah Coonts. I appreciate her stories and look forward to a LOT more! --Amazon
