Review:
Vegan 1 Day is a beautiful testament to what we can do to make a difference and why it is so important to do so. Through the eyes and hearts of John and Carol we get to see how precious each day and each act is to the world within us and around us.
~ Benjamin Allen, author of Out of the Ashes, Healing in the Afterloss
Part biography, part treatise on healthier living, Vegan 1 Day is a guide to a more compassionate, fulfilling existence. Infused with brief stories that reflect the authors' values and simple-but-satisfying plant-based recipes, this little book is sure to inspire readers to live ethically and with greater purpose.~ Mark Hawthorne, author of three books on animal rights: A Vegan Ethic: Embracing A Life Of Compassion Toward All, Bleating Hearts: The Hidden World of Animal Suffering, and Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide to Animal Activism
Carol and John begin their lovely and lyrical book by reminding us, "We are capable of so much more than we allow." Vegan 1 Day can help each one of us live a fuller, more compassionate and beauty-filled life. I thank them for sharing their stories and allowing us to learn from their wisdom.
~ Jasmin Singer, co-founder of Our Hen House and author of Always Too Much and Never Enough
Vegan 1 Day made my heart fill with joy. I couldn't wait to read each new chapter and hear what adventures John and Carol got into next. Yes, this short, thoughtful book is about living a life -- even if just one day a week -- that doesn't depend upon the intentional hurting and killing of thinking, feeling beings for every meal. It's described beautifully in the phrase "veganism is not a path of perfection, it's a path of kindness." But the book is also about a spiritual journey, one filled with moments like paddleboarding in the ocean and suddenly being surrounded by deadly orcas. Insights, missteps, compassion and good food are all described in a humble way that will make you want to share their stories and recipes.
~ Mark Robison, co-founder of Cockadoodlemoo Farm Animal Sanctuary
