Between the Pisca and Omulew Rivers (branches of the Narew River in Northern Poland) several Russian attacks broke down under the German fire on March 29, and a few days later the night attacks of the Russians, on the left bank of the Omulew were likewise repulsed. On the Skwa, near Klimki nearly 900 Russian soldiers and two officers were made prisoners on March 31. The battle front in the Carpathians along the Dukla and Lupkow Pass has been shifted somewhat southward and fighting continues on both sides of the Latorcza and the Ondawa valleys. In the region of Zaleszczyki the Austrians captured, on March 27, eleven Russian points of support and took over 500 prisoners. Advancing across the Dniester River, east of the same place, the Russians were again repulsed on March 30 after a vigorous fight. In the hills near Benyavoelgz, south of Labotczrey, on March 28 and 30, numerically stronger Russian attacks were repulsed by regiments of the Fourth Cavalry Division and troops of the First Landsturm Infantry Brigade. North of the Uzsok Pass, in the Carpathians, Russian night attacks failed and over 2,000 Russians were made prisoners. "Since March 1," the Austrian official report reads, "we have captured altogether 183 officers and 39,942 men and six machine guns. In the southern war theater there has been no change."
