About the Author:
Monica DaSilva, a self-taught photographer with an instinctual passion for the film, has photographed and documented Jamaican dance and theatre for over twenty five years. Her love, passion and curious appreciation for moving images is what later led to her shooting dance and theatre in Jamaica. Her work gives insight into the mystery of the dancers and choreography in each ensemble.
She has captured on film the beauty and form of Jamaican Dance, true poetry in motion. Some of the most memorable and awe inspiring dance ensembles have been recorded in this historic book. DaSilva's work has been printed in over 20 different publications in Jamaica, including the Best of Skywritings, Jamaica Pictorial, Evon Blake's Beautiful Jamaica and Bob Marley - Reggae King of the World, The Gleaner, The Jamaica Observer and Jamaica Journal. She has won awards for her photography in the JCDC Photographic National Competition and has been a judge for the JCDC Festival Photo Competition.
