About the Author:

Recognized as the leading authority on the history of Texas Longhorn football, Bill Little is in his 41th year with The University of Texas Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and currently holds the title of Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach/communications. A native of Winters, Texas, Little began his writing career as a cub reporter for the San Angelo Standard Times and the Abilene Reporter News when he was in high school. He earned his Bachelor of Journalism Degree from Texas in 1965, and is recognized as one of the leading writers in college athletics, winning 15 Best in the Nation awards (as chosen by the journalism faculty at The University of Missouri) and more than 20 Best in the District honors as presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Texas Football Yesterday and Today is Little s seventh book on Texas athletics.

Mack Brown became the Texas football coach in 1998, and has led the Longhorns to at least nine wins in each of his eleven seasons. His 2005 team won the BCS National Championship. He has been named national coach of the year twice, in 2005 and again in 2008.
