About the Author:
Carson Kressley galloped onto the scene as a stylist for Polo Ralph Lauren in New York and then became the self-proclaimed "miracle worker" of fashion in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which airs on Bravo. A magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Gettysburg College, he received degrees in finance and fine art. Carson is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Off the Cuff. He is a nationally ranked competitive equestrian who lives in New York City. This is his first book for children.

Jared Lee has been delighting young and old with his exuberant illustrations for more than thirty years. From magazines and national ad campaigns, to greeting cards and children's books, Jared's work has been enjoyed by millions. Jared is the illustrator of Mike Thaler's popular Teacher from the Black Lagoon series as well as numerous other picture books and beginning readers. In addition to his extensive publishing career, he runs a
company that sells T-shirts, mugs, and stationery dedicated to one of his loves -- horses. Jared lives in southwest Ohio with his wife, P. J., and a huge menagerie that includes horses, dogs, cats, ducks, and bluegills.
From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 1 A sunny, if formulaic, tale of the merits of standing apart from the crowd. As new foals are born in the meadow, one little orphan colt stands out: white coat, golden mane, and a whinny so loud and so clear that everyone took to calling him Trumpet. All the other horses love Trumpet until he starts to grow a horn. Then he is ostracized. Readers will hardly be surprised when a disastrous situation arises and the unicorn is invaluable fire sweeps through the barn, and he uses his horn to unlatch the bolt and save his friends. If the story is nothing new, Kressley's telling is charming enough, though the occasional overuse of cutesy slang is jarring. The real treat of the book is the liveliness of Lee's whimsical black-line illustrations on cream-colored stock, with bits of white to highlight Trumpet on every spread.
