Little Berry Deaton was a simple country preacher who found himself exiled in Illinois during the Civil War and unable to contact his family in Tennessee. He kept a diary of his experiences and tells us his feelings about what started that war and shares with us the letters he received from his son in the union army. About the Author:
Eva Mae Deaton (Stein) is an 81-year-old great-grandmother who spent thirty years as an air force wife of a bomber pilot and the mother of four sons, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She co-authored a book about her husband's experiences during his air force career. "Into the Wild Blue Yonder," published by the Texas A&M University Press. Little Berry Deaton was her great-grandfather and his desire for his diary to be published has pushed her into writing of his experiences during the Civil War.
