About the Author:
Agnieszka Biskup is a science writer and editor based in Chicago. She is a former editor for the science section of the Boston Globe as well as the children's science magazine Muse. In addition to children's books, she has also written many articles for newspapers, magazines, and websites. Her books have received awards from Learning magazine, the Association of Educational Publishers, and the Society of School Librarians International. Her book Football: How It Works (Capstone Press, 2010) was a Junior Library Guild selection.

Isabel Soto is a swashbuckling archaeologist who time-travels through history to solve mysteries. The cartoon art is no revelation but ably illustrates Izzy’s travel to ancient Egypt and modern-day London, South America, Italy, Denmark, and D.C. The magic portal device is initially disorienting—there is no explanation of who Izzy is or why she can teleport (oddly, that info is supplied in the back matter). Furthermore, it’s a wonder that the stylishly clad adventurer isn’t feared, murdered, or worshiped the moment the ancient Egyptians see her. Thankfully, the excitement never feels like pandering.
