About the Author:

My love affair with Mother Nature began growing up in the 60's, when "getting back to nature" was the norm. Respecting the natural world and living in a harmonious way with the rhythms and cycles of life made a lot of sense to me and it was always comfortable for me. I finished nursing school in the early seventies, indoctrinated into western medicine and lived there for several years, during which time my babies were born, of course coming into the world naturally. Having children changes you, makes you more protective, more vigilant. I questioned the standard ways of healing and chose more natural healing for them, including having no pop in the house, not a popular decision . The children grew, healthy and strong and were out on their own, a difficult but normal, loving separation. The time that was once filled with laundry and carpooling was mine/ours for the first time. I felt those first stirrings of that dormant passion for all things natural again, felt the need to live everyday in the forgotten rhythms of life. I became a Master Herbalist, opening a practice quietly to spread the gospel of herbal and natural healing. It was congruent with my work as a nurse in which I had chosen to support natural birth choices by opening an "alternative" birth center and continued to support breastfeeding as a lactation consultant. My life became greener, expanding into teaching (and preaching) about the glories of natural cleaning, herbal healing and healthy foods. My husband, family and friends listened politely, some even heard. So here I am, mid life now with a burning need to have more people listen, have more people hear, have more people take action. Hopefully this book will help others on this path for a cleaner, healthier planet.
