From the Inside Flap:
As we overview Scripture, we see that the themes of faith, love, and hope prevail in the narratives and teachings. This shows us that the central message of the Word can be defined as spiritual conquest through faith, love, and hope. This message speaks to the need to overcome the three avenues of sin identified in the Bible: the pride of life (humanism), the lust of the flesh (sensualism), and the lust of the eyes (materialism). Faith makes us strong through dependency on God so it conquers the pride of life that makes us weak in prideful self- dependence. Love, the godly kind, wholeheartedly loves the Lord and develops God-centered, fulfilling desires so it conquers the empty, self-centered lusts (sinful loves) of the flesh. Hope places hope in the rewarding promises of God so it conquers the disappointing lusts of the eyes that place idolizing hope in earthly and material things-- the things seen with the eyes. In observing this phenomena, we come to more fully know the truth that sets us free from humanism, sensualism, and materialism to conquer the world for Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. What joy and peace we experience in this abundant life!
About the Author:
Larry Grabill has pastored and guided people to the Lord for over forty years in the United States and Nigeria. Larry also has written Things Come Together, a novel applying theology to practical living. Another project of his creativity is a vessel he has built, a fully-functional, seaworthy, tenth-scale-replica of Noah's Ark. This is displayed at TBN's Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida. This boat was built to start conversations about God and to inspire a movement to build the first wooden, ocean-going ship as big as Noah's ark since his time. Imagine a Noah's-ark-family- cruise-ship sailing the seas with full-sized animal sculptures on which boat the narratives of the Bible would be taught and illustrated.
