Compared to the other neonatal textbooks (Avery's Neonatology: Pathophysiology and Management of the Newborn, 6th edition, MacDonald et al. (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005), Avery's Diseases of the NEwborn, 9th edition, Gleason and Devaskar (Elsevier, 2012)), it is more detailed with an emphasis on the organization asepcts of perinatal medicine, biochemistry, and the pathophysiological basis of care algorithms.
