El presente libro recoge la idiosincracia del pueblo caribeno de habla hispana en varias situaciones y escenarios. Aqui se incluyen estampas de Cuba, Puerto Rico Y la Republica Dominicana. Cada personaje lo he visto pasar por mi vida, sentada, en alguna plaza de cualquier pueblo, observando en alguna de nuestras playas, hablando con algun desconocido que me ha dado parte de su tiempo; o, simlemente, viendo la tele o leyendo los periodicos. Es el retrato tuyo y mio. Es nuestra gente, sus pasiones, el humor con que enfrentan el dolor y la desgracia, la picardia cultural y nuestra singular politica. Y por ultimo, es un homenaje postumo a quienes me ensenaron, a fuerza de ejemplo, reganos, mimos y bofetadas a ser quien soy.

About the Author:
Mervin M. Román Gallardo nació en Yabucoa, Puerto Rico un 10 de mayo de 1953. Casada con Juan A. Capeles, han procreado dos preciosas hijas: Melinda y Paola Capeles. Melinda le ha dado dos hermosas nietas, Xiomara y Ariela Rowe Capeles. Mervin cursó su Bachillerato en Psicología en la Universidad de Puerto Rico y en Educación en la Universidad Mundial. Obtuvo dos Maestrías en SUNY de Buffalo, una en Español y la otra en Estudios Puertorriqueños y un Doctorado en Literatura Hispanoamericana. Ha ofrecido cátedra en varias universidades incluyendo: SUNY de Fredonia, Clark Atlanta University, Valdosta State University y La Universidad de Puerto Rico, recinto de Mayaguez. Mervin ha representado estas universidades en innumerables charlas académicas junto a su propia obra de ficción. Además de varios artículos académicos sobre feminismo, identidad negra y literatura fantástica, ha escrito cuatro libros: El cuento fantástico en Cuba y Puerto Rico; Mejunje; Bajo la luna erótica del Caribe y Salidos del útero.
