Lisa Underwood Magro, the daughter of a Baptist minister, grew up in a Christian home with a vibrant life of faith. She teaches women's Bible studies at Bayside Baptist Church, Chattanooga, Tennessee, applying her doctor of theology degree from Covington Theological Seminary. She lives in Chattanooga with her husband and two stepsons.
